Training for Disabled Servicemen and Women Sponsored by the ABF The Soldiers' Charity

Out on a Limb is looking for capable volunteer disabled servicemen and women up to and beyond Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Coastal Skipper so that they can lead organise offshore sailing expeditions.

Principles. The principles are simple:

  • Standards. RYA standards will be the benchmark throughout. Applicants must be swimmers.
  • Eligibility. Disabled Servicemen and women from all three Services are eligible to apply. The RYA Start Yachting 2 day course will confirm how participants take to sailing, and that our instructors are happy they can continue the programme safely.
  • One Stage at a Time. Participants will proceed through the scheme at an achievable speed driven by them.
  • Stay in lane. Out on a Limb seeks to support and work beside other Service and Service-related organisations such as Toe in the Water and JSASTC Gosport , rather than encroach on their territory. We provide management, know-how and encouragement to individuals throughout the programme

Check out the programme or ask your unit RATO to book a course for a group.
