ARMY SAILNG ASSOCIATION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WEDNESDAY 07 MARCH 2012 AT THORNEY ISLAND SAILING CLUB
DATE AND VENUE
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Army Sailing Association will be held at Thorney Island Sailing Club (TISC) from 1000 hrs to 1300 hrs on Wednesday 7th March 2012. The meeting will be chaired by the ASA Commodore, Major General A R Gregory CB. Coffee will be available from 0930hrs. For those that wish to sail to TISC, the Royal Artillery has kindly allowed us to use their mooring buoys at no charge. There will be a rib to transport you to shore. Those who wish to use this facility please complete Annex B and return to the ASA office by Monday 27th February 2012.
ATTENDANCE
The attendance at the Annual Conference is open to all members of the Army Sailing Association including Affiliated Club members. The ASA Council look forward to seeing you at the meeting. Those attending are asked to complete the form at Annex A, and return to the ASA by 27th February 2012.
REPORTS
Rear Commodores of each discipline, Germany and the Deputy OIC JSASTC are requested to prepare a short but interesting brief on their discipline, lasting no longer than 10 minutes each. The Council Reports will be placed in the AGM packs. Please request early, if any electronic equipment is required for presentations.
SECURITY
All those attending the conference are asked to be in possession of either an MOD Form 90 (Forces Identity Card) or an Army Sailing Association Membership Card. Those driving to Thorney Island please supply your vehicle details when completing annex A.
LUNCH AND REFRESHMENTS
There will be coffee from 0930 hrs and lunch at 1300 hrs in the Station Officers Mess.
DRESS
Dress is civilian clothes with tie, which may be either suits or blazers etc.
TRAVEL
It is regretted that assisted travel for this meeting under the Army Sport Board Travel Authority is restricted to Council Members and Flag Officers only.
PUBLICITY
Divisional/District Sport Boards, Affiliated and Local Club Secretaries are asked to give this meeting the widest possible circulation. All those attending are asked to complete Annex A and return to the ASA at the earliest opportunity. As stated previously these replies give the Secretary a good indication regarding the catering arrangements required for lunch etc and your co-operation would be much appreciated. However entry will not be denied if the form has not been received by the Secretary.
ASA MEMBERSHIP
This meeting forms a forum for the ASA membership and for those who are members of Affiliated and Local Clubs to be able to hear direct from the Flag Officers the previous seasons results and the Flag Officers plans for the future. The membership is invited to comment on these plans and decisions. Your support for the annual conference is always appreciated by the Flag Officers who wish to know the feelings of the membership regarding sailing in the Army and the facilities that the ASA are able to make available to its members. A direct debit membership form is enclosed for those who have not joined the ASA (The cheapest by far of all three services). Membership is the ASA’s life blood.

The postcode for Thorney Island Sailing Club is PO10 8DS. If travelling by train the nearest station is Emsworth; this is approximately 3 miles away.
