RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper Courses: |

| The families courses run from 1200 Sun – 1200 the following Fri. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The cost is £250 which covers all victualling and berthing. Wet Weather gear is also provided if required. |

| The RYA Sea Survival is conducted in Aldershot the ASCB and in the Garrison Pool for the wet drills. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The ISAF course is conducted on the second day at the Army Offshore Sailing Centre, Gosport. Candidates must hold a valid RYA Sea Survival Certificate which is less than 5 years old. The minimum age for candidates is 18 years old. The cost for is £60 for both courses or £30 for individual courses. |

RYA Cruising Instructors Course
The RYA Cruising Instructors Course is a 5 day course run by the AOSC for serving members of the Army using a JSASTC Victoria 34 yacht. The cost is £50 payable to the ASA. Candidates for the course must be a Commercially Endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore and an ASA member. The RYA charge £39 for non RYA members to have their Yachtmaster Licence updated on successful completion of the course; there is no charge to RYA members.
The course will be held at Gosport and will instruct and assess candidates on their suitability to be RYA Cruising Instructors and able to instruct on and qualify RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper Courses. Candidates must have a high standard of personal seamanship both theory and practical. Candidates will be expected to teach all aspects of the Competent Crew and Day Skipper Syllabus as given in the RYA Book G15 (Syllabus and Logbook).
Sea Survival and ISAF Course
The Sea Survival Course and ISAF Course is a two day course run on day one (Sea Survival) at the ASA in Aldershot and day two the ISAF Course will be run at the AOSC Gosport. In order to attend the ISAF Course you must have attended the Sea Survival Course. The cost for the two day course is £50 per person.
Competent/Day Skipper Course ASA Members
RYA Day Skipper/Competent Crew Courses run from the AOSC. Courses are for members of the ASA. Applicants must be over the age of 18. The courses are run on civilian Coded Yachts. The cost of the course will be £250; this covers the yacht charter, logbook, mooring fees and food.
Competent Crew: There is no experience requirement for the Competent Crew Course.
Day Skipper: Applicants must have completed the minimum requirement of 5 days at sea, 100nm, 4 night hours and be at the navigational standard of the Shorebased Day Skipper Course. It is stressed that these are the minimum entry standard.
RYA Examinations:
The AOSC can provide RYA Examiners for Yachtmaster Coastal and Yachtmaster Offshore examinations. Please contact the AOSC Chief Instructor.
Own Boat Tuition:
The AOSC can assist any ASA member with improving their sailing skills on there own yacht. If you are interested in own boat tuition please contact the AOSC Chief Instructor.
Yachtmaster Preparation:
The AOSC offers advice and practical tuition in preparation of yachtmaster Exams. If you need any advice or tuition on Yachtmaster exams please contact the AOSC Chief Instructor
