Fujitsu proudly team up with British Soldier

FUJITSU are sponsoring British Soldier for the 4th year running - £100K to date. Without their financial assistance we wouldn’t be able to race British Soldier quite so competitively as we currently do. Fujitsu routinely ask for very little and this year they requested that we host two mini regattas as follows:

  • Summer Regatta – Thu 11 Jul; 20 - 25 Fujitsu staff.
  • Autumn Regatta – Thu 3 Oct; 15 – 20 Fujitsu staff.
  • The intention is to run these regattas along similar lines to previous events. Essentially we’ll look at fielding between 4 – 5 yachts (British Soldier and other R&CYC yachts) for a mix of sailing and social activities on the Solent. These regattas are genuinely excellent fun and it’s a good way to repay our sponsors. If you fancy a day on the water and dinner in the evening, then please indicate your willingness to attend either by email or via the Interested Crew Register. A separate calling notice/Wng O will follow in due course.

Would you like to sponsor British Soldier?

In 2011 the Army’s racing yacht BRITISH SOLDIER will compete in the Atlantic Ocean Series, run by the New York Yacht Club, Royal Yacht Squadron and Royal Ocean Racing Club. Races include:

February Caribbean 600 – the ‘Fastnet of the Caribbean’
    March Fort Lauderdale to Charleston
May Annapolis to Newport Rhode Island
June-July Newport to The Lizard – 3000 miles
    August Fastnet Race
    September Biscay Race

BRITISH SOLDIER is sailed by serving soldiers on return from operational tours and a number of injured soldiers undergoing rehabilitation.

At the top of the game, BRITISH SOLDIER finished 2nd overall in the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s offshore series in 2008 and 2010, out of some 280 yachts.

The yacht does not receive public money; it is funded by charitable trusts, the Army Sports Lottery, individual soldiers’ contributions and generous sponsors. Is this where your company joins the team? Your company name on the spinnaker, exposure at next years great offshore racing events, and helping a very good cause! And some fantastic sailing with the crew too.

I look forward to hearing from you.
