Fujitsu proudly team up with British Soldier
In an exciting new development, Fujitsu has recently teamed up with the Army Sailing Association to sponsor British Soldier, the Army’s 40 foot racing yacht. Only launched last year, British Soldier has had already made her mark with an impressive inaugural season, representing Team GBR in the Rolex Commodore’s Cup and 2nd overall in the Royal Ocean Racing Club’s Offshore Series. The yacht has also, and very successfully, enabled the launch during 2008 of the Charity, Toe in the Water. In 2009, the Army sailing team remain committed to racing British Soldier at the highest standards of inshore and offshore sailing and will enter the prestigious Fastnet Race, one of the World’s premier offshore races. In 2010, the team has set its sights on the arduous and extremely challenging non-stop Round Britain and Ireland Race.
British Soldier is committed to developing the individual and team sailing skills of all Army sailors through demanding and exciting sailing. British Soldier will continue to support fully Toe in the Water, a charitable organisation which aims to inspire men and women who have sustained often traumatic injuries, including the loss of limbs, to move beyond their disabilities and to become re-inspired by life. Competitive sailing is a physically and mentally challenging adventurous sport and provides a unique opportunity for injured men and women to sail and race on equal terms with their able bodied counterparts.
Fujitsu, a leading global IT services company designs, builds and operates complex ICT systems and services for large scale clients in both the public and private sectors. Their business approach is based on establishing long term relationships that build on success and mutual benefit. The Army Sailing Association is privileged to have been invited on board and, as a partner to the UK MoD for over 40 years, Fujitsu is now proud to sponsor British Soldier and to help provide the Army’s men and women with an opportunity to race a thoroughbred racing machine at the highest levels of competition.

The yacht does not receive public money; it is funded by charitable trusts, the Army Sports Lottery, individual soldiers’ contributions and generous sponsors. Is this where your company joins the team? Your company name on the spinnaker, exposure at next years great offshore racing events, and helping a very good cause!
